history of Colegio Liceo Moderno in Girardot

Colegio Liceo Moderno is the work of Esperanza Trujillo de Castiblanco, M.A., and Uriel Castiblanco Tafur, a couple from Girardot who decided in 1980 to contribute to the education of children and young people with strong principles and academic, artistic and athletic skills.

Over the years, the institution has proven to be forward-thinking and innovative in its academic processes, earning a place among the best schools in the city, the department and the country.

From the very beginning, the institution has sought to prepare the people of Girardot in a variety of fields. For this reason, in 1981 it launched the first Technical High School Diploma in Computer Systems, a model later taken as an example to be applied in Mexico, and it was the first school in Girardot to open a computer lab. In 1992, in response to the city's labor needs, it introduced the Technical High School Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism, and around 2005 it began graduating students with a military orientation.

Today, after more than 40 years, the institution has embraced the rise of new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), training today's graduates as skilled technicians in their use, with an emphasis on English as a foreign language. Since 2012, using its own resources, the institution has transformed its classrooms into digital environments, acquiring video projectors, digital whiteboards and sound systems, and creating content on its own self-directed learning platforms. With this new approach, we expect students to be able to program and build software and mobile apps (for Android, iOS, iPhone 8), manage platforms, and lead digital projects and blogs, among the many other possibilities technology offers

For 13 years, Colegio Liceo Moderno was led by Mg. Diana Esperanza Castiblanco Trujillo, who carried on the legacy her parents had built over 30 years. Her main purpose was to educate, shape and guide children and young people who place God and their families at the center of their lives; that is why Christ is the foundation for teaching them to be better sons and daughters, siblings, neighbors, friends and students, so that we give society useful people with strong moral, spiritual and emotional values.

Today, the institution's concern is not only to work hard so that students acquire academic skills and competencies; we believe true success lies in transforming human beings and building them up every day. Colegio Liceo Moderno is an institution on the path to excellence.
